Thank you + a GIVEAWAY- Midcentury eyeglass case!!!

A few thanks. First another thank you to essie who delivered their beautiful fall collection to my door this past week. It is amazing. A mix of muddy but chic browns and mauves, next to the very brightest brights I've seen in a long time. Think my favorite is the navy..but not sure just yet? Thank you for always keeping me well polished.
For you essie fans out there- there is still some time to try out that summer collection while it's in stores- b/c pinks and reds are never out of style for this girl.A second thanks today goes to you. We hit 400 followers on my little art blog. A space where I post the stylish little finds that inspire my work. Thank you for always supporting me. I have had a great time with this little - but growing blog.
As you know with every 100 followers comes a giveaway. This one is from Dear Golden- one of my favorite vintage stores on etsy. Just leave a comment below of what you like in her shop and the winner will be announced 9-4-09. xo

You know I love to mix old and new- so I'd put my new Mark Jacobs in this retro case! This case is a midcentury eyeglass & sunglass case! So sweet! Thanks Dear Golden!!

j crew fashion illustration

I got the new jcrew today, and I was most inspired by something not sold in the store. I adore the styling of the socks.

Throughout the magazine heels are paired with neon ankle socks. I also caught a glimpse of nude ankle fishnets that inspired this illustration.

(If you are interested in these fashion illustrations, this one will be in the etsy shop today! Only $40 unframed, more if you'd like it framed... hope you enjoy!)

just my cup of tea

Isis (also check out her etsy here) was kind enough to show me how to make her darling moss filled teacups. Her super easy instructions below:

You will need:
an old teacup or two
a small amount of soil
some moss (a few tufts)

Take a walk around your local area for moss, and you will be surpised just how much there is around you, and how many varieties you will find. Look in moist places or difficult-to-grow-in places, like between pavers. Moss seems to have this 'i can grow anywhere and i will not die' attitude, which is why it's great for those of us born without green thumbs.

1. Fill your teacup with soil to roughly 1cm or 1/2 inch from the top
2. Top with moss, placing the tufts in so they are just firmly packed and you can't see any soil. Using a few varieties of moss looks effective, as do any tiny plants that may have come along for the ride.

Your moss 'garden' should grow pretty much anywhere but on the window sill or front step is best so they can get some sunlight. If you have some tiny plants in yours they will definitely want sunlight. Since the cup doesn't have holes in the bottom for water to escape, you won't need to water your 'garden' often. Just check to see it is moist once every 1 or 2 weeks. If it seems a bit dry give it a little bit of a drink (I water mine once a week). Too easy!
